With less than one million games sold Bulletstorm is not one of the blockbusters. The developers at People Can Fly declared it still the most successful new brand the year of publication and were satisfied with their game.

The developers at People Can Fly spoke in an interview about the development of their game Bulletstorm. The shooter was sold less than a million times and stayed possibly fall short of expectations. Nevertheless, explained Lead Level Designer Wojciech Madry: "It was the most successful new IP of the year." Bulletstorm was released in February 2011. It is not clear whether Madry refers to the calendar year 2011 or fiscal year 2012. Nor is it clear whether this information for the entire industry is considered or only for EA.
Madry is despite rather poor sales figures behind his game and says:.., "The problem is, like in the film industry, most of the money is taken by [sequels] In the end, we have everything we could do done, we have a great Game created that we wanted to play itself and there is nothing for which we would be ashamed of us or we wanted to change.
