The Russian studio Unigine Corp. was previously known for the Heaven DX11 benchmark. Meanwhile, the company, however, a separate team for games has built and delivered with Oil Rush his debut title from. The kidnapped in a sci-fi scenario, which saw a sharp in which Kevin Costner strip Waterworld (1995) served: In the future, most land masses are flooded from the sea and people just argue about one thing: oil. You experience the story from the perspective of the soldier Kevin, who initially takes in the name of an evil military faction in the battle, but then takes the side of the oppressed people. What a clever comment on issues such as environmental protection or policy could have been, turns out to be stiffer plot with weak presentation: the characters have zero profile, the dialogues are irrelevant and if the English speaker started first time, you want to be most like their ears .
Graphically Oil Rush makes her a lot. It falls short, however, on a rigid plot lean presentation.

Content, the game has a lot to offer this. Unlike traditional strategy games of the terrain in Oil Rush hardly plays a role. In the missions it gets rather to take key points on the map, such as oil rigs and factories, then automatically produce the raw materials and units. Only the defense is set by hand at five slots built one nimble one of three defensive towers, then go directly to the next checkpoint before the enemy can take it - a cat-and-mouse game with the pleasingly aggressive AI opponents.
The troops control is unusual: units are not selected individually, instead you selected only the building, around the circle the troops straight. Now you can give the entire team the marching orders to the next checkpoint or reduce the selection still awkward before. However, more detailed commands are not possible: The troops circling fully automatically control points around, attack, if there's something to fight, and allow otherwise no further commands. Thus, the fights get unnecessarily messy, professionals will also miss tactical depth.
By fighting the player rises to the level and may thus in small talent trees new bonuses and abilities to unlock. So you can about weaken the enemy's defenses or speed up construction processes - sounds trite, has the simple gameplay but great influence on the balance. In the talent trees, you also unlock powerful special units that spice up the dry troops offer something. Different factions, visit Oil Rush namely not, you always commanded the same combat boats and air units.
With eight to ten hours, the campaign is measured fairly. In addition, Oil Rush also offers a skirmish and a multiplayer mode. The card selection for two to four players can indeed be proud of, but only a few games came into existence in our test - too many players namely not hang around in multiplayer. From 23 March 2012, Oil Rush also available in a localized version in German trading.
